ARRL Field Day is June 26-27, 2010

ARRL Field Day is the largest on-the-air operating event in Amateur Radio. It draws tens of thousands to the airwaves each year, bringing new and experienced hams together for a weekend of fun!

We will setting up in the field behind the Queens Hall of Science parking lot beginning at 8:00 AM on Saturday, June 26th. Field Day runs for 24 hours from 2:00pm on Saturday until 2:00pm on Sunday. The event is held rain or shine so please come prepared for sun, rain, bugs and whatever else Mother Nature throws our way!

You can come down for an hour or stay overnight to contact the most time zones. All participants are asked to contribute to the running of this event. For example, set up Saturday morning (8:00am) & breakdown Sunday afternoon (1:00pm) are particularly helpful times to pitch in.

The club will supply radios, coax, antennas, generators, tables and tents but please feel free to bring additional antennas, sun shades or radios you want to share. Back up is always a good thing and besides, FD is a great time to dust off some infrequently used gear! We will provide a set of guidelines for any guest ops who wish to attend.

One item we defintely need is folding chairs (the metal types) so if you can provide a few that would be very helpful.

Also, the club will feed members and guests who help out with FD but if you'd like to contribute a dish to the effort we'd certainly appreciate it!

We'd love to know if you are available to come to FD, please email Rob Smith AB2UV at rob [at] ab2uv.com the times you are planning to come down so he can anticipate the flow of volunteers on hand to help with our Field Day effort.

Now that we don't have a permanent station activities like FD are a great opportunity to learn more about amateur radio, expose friends or family that may have an interest, and to spend time with your fellow club members!

As we are located on the grounds of the Queens Hall of Science we ask that you please do not bring any offensive materials, fireworks or other prohibited items to the park.

Thanks & we look forward to seeing you!
