Each year, the Hall of Science Amateur Radio Club participates in Field Day, a 24-hour emergency preparedness and operating contest held on the last full weekend of June. This is your chance to come down and set up a working station in our back parking lot, demonstrate to the public what makes ham radio fun and operate an HF contest station (regardless of your license class). Even non-hams and Technicians are permitted to operate our Field Day HF stations under supervision of our control operators.
Rain or shine, day and night, we keep our Field Day transmitters on the air, but we need your participation to make next year's Field Day even better. We need operators! You don't have to be a veteran contester (but if you are, we need you too!), just have a desire to learn, operate and see how much fun Field Day can be is all that's needed. If you enjoy CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK-31, APRS or SSTV we have something here for you! And if you don't know what the last sentence means, c'mon down and we'll show you .
Please e-mail the Field Day committee at field-day@hosarc.org for more information or if you're interested in participating. Next year promises to be the best ever!
Field Day is always held on the Fourth full weekend in June.
Setup begins at 7 AM on Saturday. The contest starts at 2 PM and runs for 24 hours.
If you're planning to stay for lunch or dinner at field day (yes we'll feed you well!) please contact Steve at 718-898-5599 no later than the week before so we'll have enough chow for everyone.
